About Methodist University Hospital
Methodist University Hospital combines research, medicine and innovation to bring comprehensive, leading-edge care to the residents of Memphis and its surrounding areas. The largest location in the Methodist Le Bonheur Healthcare system, Methodist University Hospital is also the major academic campus and principal teaching hospital of The University of Tennessee Health Science Center (UTHSC). This collaborative partnership allows us to offer advanced, multidisciplinary care to our patients. Our 583-bed flagship hospital has been recognized by U.S. News & World Report as one of the best hospitals in Memphis.

If a heart attack or stroke occurs, the experienced physicians at Methodist University Hospital are trained in the most advanced treatments and procedures. We are accredited by the American College of Cardiology (ACC) as a Chest Pain Center with Primary PCI, which means a call team is available 24/7 every day of the year to provide advanced care and treatment for heart attacks. We also earned the ACC’s Chest Pain – MI Registry™ Platinum Performance Achievement Award, as well as a Comprehensive Stroke Center Certification and accreditation in electrophysiology from DNV Healthcare.

Methodist University Hospital is located at 1265 Union Ave., Memphis, TN, 38104.
Visitors and patients can park in the Parking Plaza on Eastmoreland.
We’re also easily accessible via the Memphis Area Transit Authority (MATA). Our facilities are located directly along transit lines 34, 42 and 56. Transit lines 2, 5, 46 and the Madison Avenue Trolley are within two blocks, and lines 7, 36, 40 and 57 are within a half-mile.

Visitors are welcome at Methodist University Hospital every day between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. Patients can have one overnight guest in their room — except patients in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

Doors are locked from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m., with the exception of the Emergency Department (ED) entrance. For your safety, security services are available 24 hours a day. You can request a security officer to escort you to your car at any time. To do so, call the security office at 901-516-7765 or dial “0” on a hospital phone and ask the hospital operator for assistance.

The University Cafe is located on the ground level of the main hospital. Take the elevators to the lobby (L). From the Thomas Wing, use the escalator to go to the ground level.
Meals are served during the following hours:
- Breakfast: 6:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.
- Continental Breakfast and Grab 'n' Go: 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.
- Lunch: 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.
- Dinner: 2 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Other on-campus dining options include:
- The Cafe in Shorb Tower, open Monday through Friday, 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
- The Copper Spoon in North Tower, open daily, 6 a.m. to 2 a.m.
Methodist University Hospital is located in Midtown Memphis and just a few minutes’ drive from downtown. There are many restaurants in our neighborhood if you need an option outside of our operating hours.
If you need a place to stay while a loved one is in the hospital or while receiving extended treatment, there are many options nearby, including:

Methodist University Hospital offers many amenities for your comfort and convenience:
- ATM: An ATM is located on the first floor in the main hospital lobby for your convenience.
- Chapel: Our chapel welcomes patients of all faiths. It is located on the first floor in the main lobby near the Admissions Desk.
- Family Care Center: Located on the first floor near the main lobby.
- Gift Shop: Located on the first floor of the North Tower, near the lobby, our gift shop offers fresh and silk flowers, along with plants, balloons, gifts, cards, drinks and snacks. Phone orders are welcome with free delivery within the Methodist University Hospital facilities. Our hours are:
- Monday through Friday: 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
- Saturday: 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.
- Sunday: Closed
- Internet Access: Free Wi-Fi is available through our GUEST network. You'll be prompted to accept our terms and conditions by clicking the "I accept" button. The connection will automatically time out after eight hours of inactivity.
