One of the four Queens making up the entirety of the Cunard fleet, Queen Elizabeth is a tribute to her predecessors, the original Queen Elizabeth and the much-loved Queen Elizabeth 2. Launched in 2010 and last refurbished in 2018, the ship has many art-deco interior features, marble and rich timber detailing, including the wooden marquetry of the ship itself, a centrepiece for the Grand Lobby’s main staircase. She is often affectionately known as the ‘QE’. The ship carries just over 2000 passengers and you will rarely find yourself in a crowd, except perhaps at prime dinner time or a popular theatre show. Highlights of the ship include the Garden Lounge - a light and airy atrium inspired by the conservatories Kew Gardens in London - laze here with a book and grab a specialty beverage. The Queens Room is truly the heart of the ship and is often a hive of activity thanks to the action-packed enrichment program aboard - from dancing classes, to live music, to specialty afternoon tea - this grand ballroom will draw you in. Croquet up on the Games Deck on a sunny day or a cozy night of spectacular entertainment in the Royal Court Theatre will ensure your days at sea are fulfilled.
Like Queen Victoria and Queen Mary 2, these ships also contain exclusive areas for guests in Princess and Queens Grill Suites.Boarding Queen Elizabeth is ceremonial with the iconic bellboys sporting their traditional tailored red jackets and welcoming you. Aboard, you won’t find water slides or high-tech gimmicks - Queen Elizabeth’s experience is built on tradition, nostalgia and Cunard’s trademark ‘White Star’ service. Chandeliers, opulent artwork and rich wood detailing adorn the common areas. Boutique shops line the promenade, elegant cafes and bars and sitting areas provide many nooks to relax and enjoy a book - the impressive two storey, 6000+ title library will ensure a good book is never hard to find. During the 2014 refurbishment, Mareel Wellness and Beauty, a decadent spa area is the perfect place to recharge, get your nails done or your hair styled. It’s worth noting that the dress code, is strictly adhered to - stylish casual wear throughout the day (shorts and jeans are ok as long as they’re not distressed), while after 6pm semi- formal (jacket for men) or formal (black tie) on designated gala evenings for most areas of the ship. Queen Elizabeth well and truly traverses the globe, often calling into Australia and New Zealand as part of her annual three-month world voyage. Visits to the South Pacific, Asia, Canada and Alaska are not uncommon, but her voyages of course change seasonally, offering variety for her guests year on year.

Traditional British cuisine is a staple aboard Cunard but you won’t be disappointed for choice. At first glance, Queen Elizabeth has fewer set specialty restaurants for her size compared to other cruise ships. This is in part due to their differentiated dining - with Britannia staterooms dining in the Britannia Restaurant and Britannia Club guests in the similarly styled, yet more intimate Britannia Club. Princess Suite guests have the Princess Grill and Queens Grill Suites, the Queens Grill.
All of these dining options are included in your fare and are most popular at dinner time, although offer lunch too. Attire is either formal (gala evenings) or semi-formal. The Lido Restaurant offers more casual, self-serve dining options, 24-hours a day. In-room dining is also available. Breakfast and lunch are popular times for the Lido. A popular lunch time option is the Golden Lion Pub, which serves traditional pub fare such as Fish & Chips with Mushy Peas or Cottage Pie (included). Seeking out an afternoon tea in the Queens Room is also a must, with more decadent Champagne matched ‘High Teas’ available as well, for a fee. Paid specialty restaurants are also available, the chicest option being Steakhouse at The Verandah. Perfect for celebrating a special occasion or on a gala evening - advanced bookings advised. It is more than worthwhile looking out for the Lido Alternative Dining options. A section of the Lido Restaurant is carved out and reserved for specialty themed restaurants on rotation every 3 or so days - offering international inspired cuisine such as Indian, Italian and Asian. Dress code still requires a jacket for men, making it more formal than the Lido Buffet it’s housed within and a charge applies - bookings recommended.
-
- Bars
Cafe Carinthia, its specialty tea and coffee and comfy wing backs are hugely popular of a morning. A quiet drink in the Garden Lounge is also popular. As attention shifts to the alcoholic offering, the Golden Lion Pub fills from late morning, with its multitude of lagers and ales available, plus classic live acoustic music, darts and trivia competitions and more.
The wine and drinks list aboard Queen Elizabeth is broad and offers many renowned makers - the perfect accompaniment to the impressive cuisine on offer. Mid ship you’ll find the Gin & Fizz bar serves up an exclusive, premium gin made just for Cunard, plus another 40 gins on tasting. In the Commodore Club you’ll find the mixologists stirring and shaking impressive, Cunard-exclusive co*cktails, as well as all the classics. For a fee, there are a handful of wine and co*cktail experiences available aboard, allowing you to sample some of the finest wines and co*cktails on the list. The signature afternoon tea can also be taken to the next level with Champagne matching in the Britannia Club for a charge.
-
- Entertainment
Throughout the day the activity schedule is full - from darts competitions to dance classes, pub trivia, fencing to presentations from a wide variety of guest speakers, there’ll be something of interest for everyone. The speakers are an interesting variety of authors, artists, historians and scientists and often present on topics relating to your itinerary, enriching each destination you visit.
For what’s on offer each day, it’s best to check your daily cruise planner, distributed each evening to your stateroom. Evening activities are also plentiful - head to the Royal Court Theatre for its well known for its twice nightly performances. The extravagant Broadway-style musicals, live music and plays are highly entertaining. The Queens Room continues to be a hive of activity with live music, dance lessons and competitions continuing. On gala evenings, this only increases with the ballroom the heart of the action and the best place to watch or participate in the festivities - be sure to frock up. Gala evenings are a signature occurrence aboard Cunard for cruises over two nights. These events are black-tie and generally themed, so check your cruise personaliser for details prior so you can pack for the occasion. Later into the evening, you can catch the DJ spinning songs until the last reveler hangs up their dancing shoes at the Yacht Club. If having a flutter is more to your taste, the Monte Carlo-inspired casino, across the way from the Golden Lion Pub.
-
- Activities
There are plenty of options aboard with Cunard priding itself on providing a full and varied enrichment program - from fencing to dancing, bridge to astronomy. Best to check your daily planner for what’s on offer each day. Up on the Games Deck, the table tennis, giant chess and croquet offer lively options. The Lido Pool area and whirlpools offer the perfect place to laze on sunny sea days with attentive waitstaff bringing you drinks and co*cktails, should you wish.
Boutique shopping with a good selection of designer wares and cosmetics plus an array of iconic made-in-England offerings. Make the most of the 6000+ title libraries aboard, tackle a puzzle or peruse the Art Gallery, or stay connected, making use of the Internet Centre (usage fees may apply). A shore excursion program is available for a fee per outing - this is itinerary dependent, so best to check in your cruise personaliser early as some may book out.

Extensive gym and fitness facilities are available on Queen Elizabeth. A variety of wellness programs and talks are on offer daily and personal trainers at the ready to help with your individual goals and needs. The equipment is all modern and adjustable. Yoga, Pilates and tai chi classes are available for a fee, as are aerobics, boot camps and spin classes. The Royal Spa & Fitness Centre also offers luxurious thermal baths, which are accessible with a spa day pass or with any spa treatment.
Luxurious massages, facials and hand and foot treatments are on the menu. Hair salon and barber services are well-equipped to have you styled up to the nines for gala evenings. Book ahead on these days. Also worth looking at your daily planner for spa specials of the day.

Cabins
Cunard ships have three classes of staterooms (of which there are 32 price grades, depending on size and location). Most lavish are Queens Grill Suites, then the elegant Princess Grill Suites. Both come with many privileges, and their own Grill dining rooms and private lounges. Then comes Britannia Class for 83% of guests (Club Balcony with its own dining room, Balcony, Oceanview and Inside). Of the 1046 cabins, 85 percent are outside, 71 percent come with balconies, and 12 percent are exclusive Queens/Princess Grill staterooms. Balconies are glass-fronted for good ocean views.
Some staterooms accommodate third and fourth guests. All cabins reflect conservative British decor, and come with excellent bedding, universal electrical sockets, toiletries and hairdryer, bath robe and slippers, shower, 24-hour room and nightly turn-down services, interactive TV with multi-language film and music channels, telephone, refrigerator, safe, daily ship’s newspaper and fresh fruit. There are 20 cabins with good wheelchair accessibility. In a 2014 upgrade, QE fitted accommodation for solo travellers. Queens Grill guests dine in Queens Grill restaurant, or in-suite, and have butler and concierge services. Princess Grill Suites come with in-suite dining, access to Queens Grill Lounge, dining in the Princess Grill restaurant, and the services of a concierge. Grills guests enjoy a range of niceties such as personalised stationary and access to exclusive deck areas. There are five classes of Grill Suites, ever more spacious depending on position, all with full bath and separate shower, extra in-suite entertainment, and so forth. The perks and increased service of Grill-class accommodation are worth it. In a minor addition to the Grills' areas, passengers in the loftiest accommodations have use of a strategically placed pair of telescopes that provide a bird's-eye view of ports, coming or going.)
